Pre-Alpha 1
Note: This article was written on 2025-01-03, as a summary of the events happening on Discord back during this development log
After a long break with no progress on Project Mirabelle (due to work being extremely time-consuming), I finally had time to restart working on the project. Over the months of December 2023 and January 2024, I completed the pre-alpha 1 version and released it publicly!
Due to the aformentioned time-consuming work, as I came back in the project, I was somewhat recovering. So, I started with small assets at first. I added a large glass tube asset on December 8th:
Then, a "tied as a shop sign" asset on December 19th:
By December 25th, I started to have recovered, and added a new menu UI as well as a new "chair tied" animation for that main menu and the game:
And I added new "game over" UI by December 29th:
January 1st, 2024 rolled over (happy new year!), and on January 2nd, I added some "bother" animations (with a retrospectively very funny UI prompt for the action):
I then started work on the line of sight system, where I was struggling with the raycasting algorithm for a bit:
Once that was solved, I could implement character capture by NPCs, then the four "basic" maps to showcase capabilities, and release pre-alpha 1 on January 4th, 2024!
This also led me to create the Discord server for the game, where all of the progress updates after this one were posted!
