Summary:
A lone artificer works too late for her own good, and gets ambushed by a woman with a lucrative business plan.
Disclaimers:
All the people involved in this story are explicitly adult - the characters are 29 and 33 years old.
Finally.
Setting my pen down, I looked over my diagram. Yeah. That structure would carry the magical energies correctly. These two mechanisms would be very tricky to build, and they would require a lot of exotic materials, but the price matched the need and it was still under estimate. My client would be more than happy with my proposal, and that would pay my bills for quite a while.
I stretched, moving my eyes up from the table I stared at so long. The room was darkened - it wasn't quite night, but the sun had clearly started to set. Overall, a good time to go back home after a job well done.
Smiling to myself, I lowered my hands down to gather all the scattered papers...
I lowered my hands to...
My arms were stuck in the air, locking me in my stretched position.
What?
Experimentally, I tried to move my fingers, then my forearms. Without success. It seemed like I couldn't move anything past my shoulders. A quick experimentation and a fair amount of wiggling showed that I couldn't move anything past my hips either, and all I could do was vaguely sway in my chair...
"What?" I said out loud to the empty room. I had no idea what...
"Well, looks like I dropped by just in time." An unknown voice answered behind me. A woman's, but not one I recognized. "You nearly slipped out."
The clicks of heels resonated behind me, and the woman walked into my field of view.
The woman wasn't too tall, but she still looked impressive. Her robe and the bag she carried were unassuming, and if I passed her in the street I wouldn't have given her a second glance. But, right now, with her staring at me like this, I could only see her blue eyes framed by her black hair, complimenting her self-satisfied smile.
She had a cloth doll in her hand, held it somewhat carefully in it. It looked very simple, like a children's toy, with very little details. It had two big, vibrant green buttons as eyes, a simple round head with some strands of cloth for its brown hair, a small stuffed body covered by a simple green dress, and four stuffed limbs that ended in half circles.
And in each of the doll's limbs, right where it connected to the main body, there was a single needle.
"Who are you?" I asked, unsure of what else to say. The link between the doll and my inability to move was obvious, but it wasn't a kind of magic I was familiar with. I didn't know what it was about, or what else she wanted.
"Me? Oh, nobody important." She answered, propping herself up on my desk. I looked at the crumpled papers and winced. "Just a girl wanting to make some quick money."
"I don't have much money." I answered in complete honesty. "You can take what I have if you want, but it's not much."
"Oh!" She half-giggled. "No, no, you misunderstood. I don't want your money. I'll leave everything in here just as it is now." She shifted, and the papers got crumpled even more. I nearly asked her to be careful, but managed to hold it back. "In fact, the more time before people find out you went missing, the better."
"Missing?" I repeated, still bothered by the doll and the papers. Then, it hit me. "Wait. Missing? What are you planning to do to me?"
I tried moving, but I was still pinned to the chair.
"Well..." Her smile turned wicked, and she leaned forward to press the doll against my chest. I tried to wiggle away, but she was holding it firmly. "Let's say that a client of mine really likes you, and wanted to get herself a gift."
She pulled out a long needle, and placed its sharp end in the middle of the doll. I couldn't help but look at it - it was longer than the doll was wide, so if she decided to push it all the way through, it would...
"Now, stay still." she smirked. "This will only hurt for a moment."
"What... Urk."
She stabbed the needle right into the doll, effortlessly burying it in, then continued pushing the needle as it went through me. I could feel the single point going through my flesh, piercing it deeply and working its way in my torso.
Right into my heart.
For a moment, I thought I would pass out from the pain.
But, slowly by slowly, the sensation faded. I still felt lightheaded, but it felt like it was easier to forget the pain that stung through my chest. To forget that I would probably die from the wound without some urgent medical help. It felt like it all became slower, smaller, easier to let go of my worries.
The hand on my side was holding me firmly, as I kept looking down at the needle going through me. I could feel the small point, the head buried in my torso, and the fingers holding it steadily.
Then, the girl pulled the needle back out. I felt it sliding off my back, then back inside of me, then all the way out. My head propped up automatically as the pressure was relieved, but I could feel the wound less and less.
In fact, I couldn't feel anything at all anymore. It was like I never got stabbed right in the chest with a needle long enough to pierce through me.
"Here you go, honey. All done. It wasn't that bad, was it?"
I would answer, but how could I? Instead, I just looked in front of me as she put the needle back inside of her belt. Then, she reached towards my arm, and pulled another needle out of it.
"Let's take these out too. It's not like we still need them, right?"
The feeling of the needles being pulled out of my limbs was just as weird as with the one in my torso. These were shorter, and didn't pierce all the way through my body, but they still needed to slide out of me all the same.
It took her only a moment to pull all four of them off me, and put them back in her belt as well.
"Good, good. Hold the doll, please."
What? But I couldn't hold a...
Another pair of hands grabbed me on each side, firmly securing me against the comfy and warm body behind me. The person was breathing calmly, the comforting rhythm starting to soothe me.
I snapped out of the growing haze. Wait, I thought there was only me and the girl. Who was the third person holding me?
I couldn't really turn my head to check. After all, moving by myself wasn't an option. But the thought of a third person being here and me not even noticing her was disturbing.
"Okay." Said the first girl, the one in front of me. She was holding a paper. "Give me the doll, I'll take it with me. Then, go to this address, and obey the orders of whoever is there."
She was still offering the piece of paper, right in front of me, and holding a hand out. Before I could think about how I couldn't do any of that, the girl behind me took the paper, and handed me out to the open hand.
I was turned around, and then grabbed away.
I could finally see who the other girl was. She was tall, but then, everybody was tall compared to me. She also had brown hair and vibrant green eyes that looked eerily familiar. It was like she was... Me?
But wait, I wasn't a human. I was a doll. So why was she me? That didn't make sense, I wasn't...
The girl nodded, turned around, and silently left through the workshop's door before I could confuse myself even more.
"Ahh." said the girl holding me as the door shut. "Job well done. Now, let's go home."
She turned me around, then looked at me in the eyes.
"Don't worry, your body will be fine and obedient out there on its own. Well, as long as you stay intact, and I know just where to put you to make sure you do. Don't worry, I'm a pro."
My body?
The girl pulled a small cloth bag from her belt, and stuffed me in it. I could feel her carrying me and walking out, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
My body. Well. When I focused hard on my memories, I could vaguely remember having a human body. In these memories, I looked a bit like the other girl did. In fact, thinking about it some more, she looked exactly like what I remembered myself looking like. So, was she the body she was talking about? Did that mean I was a human, then I became a doll? Or got moved into the doll, maybe? Was that possible? It was so hard to think...
I stopped wondering about it, and just started not thinking at all. It was easier this way. More relaxing. More...
Some time must have passed, with the rocking of the bag helping me stay blissfully blank. But then, the rocking stopped, and I got taken out of the bag.
The girl and I were in what looked like a small closet, the light from the outside providing enough luminosity to see everything clearly. We were both facing a couple of tall, lidded baskets.
Without hesitation, she took the lid off the first basket, and looked inside.
"Nope, that's the full one." She declared. "I always mix them up. Maybe I should seal it." she added under her breath.
Replacing the lid on it, she opened the other basket.
"Better." she said, satisfied. Then, she moved me above the basket, face down...
Inside of it, there were other dolls. I could see about half a dozen from here, and some more buried under them, but the basket was deep, and it looked about halfway full already. It was hard to estimate how many of them there were, but even from the ones I could see, there were... a lot. This one had red hair, this one brown eyes, this one was a bit rounder... All of them so different, so pretty, and...
Before I could complete my thought, she let me go. I fluttered down, dropping directly into the basket. It was a short fall, and I gracefully fell on the cloth doll below me, the softness of both our bodies cushioning my landing. I was pressed against her, and her face was close enough to mine for us to see each other - she was blonde, she looked soulful, and her blue button eyes looked cute...
The lid of the basket was put back on, and everything went dark.
Afterword:
Usually, I'd recommend other stories either similar to this or that inspired me. However, I can't think of any other mind-control story with this theme of literal dollification. I'm sure there is, but I haven't read them.
There's a few captioned images with this theme over on hypnohub, and I was specifically inspired by this collab between LittleToyMaker and TheKinkyFinn.
